Translations of the Documentation

The original MINIX 3 documentation was written in English, but since the system is used worldwide, translations into other languages are welcome. If you look at the main documentation page, you will see some of the documents have been translated into other languages. More translations are most welcome. The best way to go about this is to copy the original (English) page and then edit it, changing the content but leaving the HTML markup in place so the look-and-feel of the translation is the same as the original.

Please pay special attention to line 8 in the original file, which reads:

Depending on the language, you may need to use a different character set and we may need to change the .htaccess file to correctly serve this character set.

The file naming convention is to add -language to the base name. For example, setup.html becomes setup-french.html and faq.html becomes faq-german.html for the corresponding documents.

If you want to translate the manual pages, please start with the originals and edit the content but not the markup.

Completed translations should be sent as attachments in base64 (NOT in quoted-printable format) to info@minix3.org.
